Mr. Beardsley Goes to Hollywood!

After auditioning for the role of “a gift for someone”, Mr. Beardsley was cast in the upcoming film ‘Between Us’ starring Julia Stiles and Taye Diggs.

Recently, I caught up with the newly clean-shaven Mr. Beardsley and asked him about his film debut. Beardsley informed me that they took about 5 or 6 takes but he felt as though he really nailed his scene. This plush primate is hoping to be cast in various roles now that he has been to Hollywood and would love to work with Steven Spielberg.

Keep an eye out for his brief appearance in this play adaptation – the release date for ‘Between Us’ is set for 2012. Maybe we’ll see him at the Oscars…

I love going home for the holidays & spending time with Mom in the kitchen, baking and being creative.

3. U K R A I N I A N E G G S

The art of Ukrainian Egg dyeing or “Pysanky” takes some patience. But this art form is definitely worth learning because of the fascinating way it utilizes traditional folk motifs and designs. Layers of wax and dyes create stories on the eggs with the different colors & symbols. I found this site that shows a step-by-step process & you can order the kits online if you are interested.

I made my first Tiger Nugget a few years ago and recently felt like making some more because they are so darn cute! There are a few available in the shop right now and I am in the process of finishing up some more (in various colors) which should be ready soon.

Each nugget is approximately 3.5 inches tall. They have a hand-stitched face and little heart on their back. They will fit right in your pocket!

Holiday Gifting

My favorite handmade gift that I made was for my Mom. I made her a set of 12 wool felt napkin ring holders that were used at Christmas dinner. They looked super cute on the set table with the festive dishes and Olde English Christmas Crackers!

New Song – Holidays With You

My band Chew Heart just finished up our single “Holidays with You” & it is now available on BandCamp.com! If you’d like you can purchase the track for $1 and then put it on that Christmas Mix CD you were going to make for your mom.

Earlier this year, we released our first EP, Messy Snarls which was just voted “Favorite EP of 2010″ by InnocentWords.com. The EP is available on Loose Tooth Records.

Chew Heart is a 2-piece band (myself and Curt Swank on drums). We will be playing some shows in the Chicagoland area early next year so stay tuned for more details.
