This is Pucker Duck! He is a duck/sea horse creature with a pursed beak and a saddle with stirrups.

I did a bit of hand-stitching for this one on the flippers, eyes and beak. Pucker Duck is made of fleece, wool felt and lots of Miles Davis. No, I didn’t use him for the stuffing but I listened to his music a bunch while making this aquatic plush creature. He will be on display and for sale at Schmancy Toys in Seattle for this years Plush You! show. The show opens up on October 10th.
There’s a great Crammed Organisms feature in the Sept/Oct 2008 issue of Fiber Arts!
Here is the piece that I created for the Plushform show at Rotofugi, “Grön the Sour Fox”. If you are interested in buying any of the pieces from the show, including this custom plush fox, you can visit the Rotofugi website here.

The exhibit featured select artists from around the world that had transformed the customizable plushforms into some amazing pieces. Some pictures from the opening last night:

The event was also a launch party for the Plushform, a new product brought to you by Shawnimals which is now available for you to purchase. It is a really great designer toy/blank canvas to work on – you can paint, draw, glue, cut and hug it – create whatever you want. I had a lot of fun!

Over the weekend, I was in St. Louis to check out part of a 4-part plush show series that I participated in called, “Crammed Organisms.” The book is now available and features all of the artists in the exhibit as well as concept illustrations and some fun pictures.

If you would like a copy of the book, you can contact Cranky Yellow Publishing. They did a marvelous job putting it all together with such short notice!

Come out to see my custom plush creation as well as works of artists from all over the world at Rotofugi Gallery on Friday, June 27th. It’s a custom exhibit & Plushform launch party all rolled into one!
